Commerce ministry forms 10-member task team to chart future of tea industry
The committee will be chaired by Mamun Rashid, Chairman of National Tea Company Limited (NTC) Ltd, according to an official order signed by Deputy Secretary Dilowara Alo and issued yesterday (7 June).
The Ministry of Commerce has formed a 10-member task team to prepare a strategic roadmap for the country's tea industry.
The committee will be chaired by Mamun Rashid, Chairman of National Tea Company Limited (NTC) Ltd, according to an official order signed by Deputy Secretary Dilowara Alo and issued yesterday (7 June).
Team members include representatives from the Bangladesh Tea Board, Bangladesh Tea Research Institute, Bangladesh Tea Association, Small Tea Garden Owners, the Tea Traders Association of Bangladesh (TTAB), and NTC.
The task team has been mandated to formulate a comprehensive policy framework aimed at increasing tea production, improving branding, and expanding export opportunities for Bangladeshi tea in line with international standards.
As per the office order, NTC will handle all secretarial responsibilities of the committee. The panel has been instructed to submit its policy recommendations to the commerce secretary within one month.
It will also have the authority to co-opt additional members if required.
