Coast Guard seizes over 7 million shrimp larvae in Narayanganj operation
The Coast Guard Station Pagla conducted a targeted operation based on confidential intelligence on 29 July 2025. At approximately 6:00 a.m., a raid was carried out near the Kanchpur Bridge area in Narayanganj.
During the operation, authorities searched three trucks and one passenger bus, leading to the seizure of an estimated 7,050,000 pieces of shrimp larvae, valued at approximately Tk 35.25 crore.
The confiscated larvae were released into the Meghna River in the presence of the Assistant Fisheries Officer of Narayanganj Upazila, following established environmental and regulatory procedures. The vehicles were subsequently released after the drivers submitted written undertakings.
Lieutenant Commander Siam-ul-Haq, Media Officer of the Coast Guard, stated, "The Coast Guard remains committed to protecting fishery resources and will continue operations to prevent illegal activities affecting these vital assets."
