Coast Guard arrests 12 members of ‘Laden Gang’ in Agargaon

Bangladesh Coast Guard has arrested 12 members of the notorious teenage gang 'Laden Group' during a special operation in the Agargaon-Taltola area. The gang was reportedly involved in mugging, robbery, extortion, and other criminal activities.
Lieutenant Commander Md Siam-ul-Haque, media officer of the Coast Guard Headquarters, confirmed the arrests on Tuesday.
According to intelligence reports, the gang was planning a major act of sabotage on March 20. Acting on this information, Coast Guard personnel launched an operation at 1:00 am on March 10. During the raid, a dispute erupted among the gang members, escalating into a violent altercation. As officers attempted to arrest them, gang leader Laden and his associates attacked the law enforcers, injuring two Coast Guard personnel. However, Laden and 11 others were successfully detained.
Law enforcers recovered 25 pieces of Yaba tablets, 50 grams of cannabis, and 21 locally-made weapons from the gang.
The arrested individuals are Md Laden (21), Raihan (18), Billal (14), Hridoy (19), Kalam (30), Sumon (20), Naeem (16), Shamsuddin (28), Arif (16), Fahim (16), Md Shaon (17), and Rohid (17).
The detainees are being handed over to Sher-e-Bangla Police Station for further legal proceedings. Authorities have affirmed that operations against extortion and criminal activities will continue to ensure public safety.
