Police today recovered the body of a Chinese engineer from the Bhairab River here in the city.

On information, police recovered the body from the Bhairab River at around 9,00am, Sonali Sen, Additional Deputy Commissioner (North) of Khulna Metropolitan Police (KMP), confirmed the news to BSS.

A team of the Crime Investigation Department (CID) of Police surrounded the crime scene after recovery of the body, she said, adding that the body would be sent to the Khulna Medical College Hospital (KMCH) for post mortem.

Tuhin Mia, an interpreter of the Chinese electrical company namely Sun dong-Sun long-Sun Wue, told BSS, the Chinese engineer joined the power plant about seven months back. He lived near the power plant area with his colleagues.

On 24 August, the engineer went to a barber shop to cut hair. He (Tuhin) received information through his colleague that the engineer did not return to their residence on that night, he said, adding that he later filed a general diary (GD) with Khalishpur Police Station on 25 August.
He, however, said "Some employees of the company started searching for him in different areas during the last 24 hours and at last we found the floating body around 900am today at the Bhairab River while searching with an engine boat.
Al-Amin, safety officer and also an interpreter of the Chinese Company told BSS, the engineer joined the power plant last February. He was a nice and labourer friendly officer.

Talking to BSS, Sayed Mushfiqur Rahman, Superintendent of Police of Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI), said "There were no marks of injury in his body.
