Case filed against Narayanganj BNP leader after woman stages sit-in at police station
According to the victim's family, the police initially insisted the BNP leader's name be dropped from the complaint.

A case has been filed against Narayanganj city BNP Convener Advocate Sakhawat Hossain Khan for allegedly ordering an assault on a family seeking justice at the court premises.
The development comes as the complainant, Razia Sultana, staged a sit-in with her child in front of Fatullah Police Station last night, alleging that police refused to file a case because it named Sakhawat as a prime accused.
Fatullah Model Police Station's Inspector (Investigation) Anwar Hossain today (29 October) confirmed that police later registered the case.
Besides Sakhawat, eight others were named as accused, while five more have been listed as unidentified in the case.
According to the victim's family, the police initially insisted Sakhawat's name be dropped from the complaint and pressured them to file the case without him.
Razia said, "They told us to remove his name. How can we? He's the one who ordered the attack. Now we're hearing they're preparing a counter case against us."
The incident took place on 26 October when Irfan Mia, a litigant, went to court for a hearing and was allegedly attacked by Sakhawat's junior lawyer and clerks. Irfan, his wife Razia Sultana, and their two sons were injured in the assault. A video of the attack, showing Razia being assaulted in front of her children, has since gone viral on social media.
However, BNP leader Sakhawat denied the allegations, calling the case a "political conspiracy".
"I am a nomination aspirant for the upcoming national election, and a vested group is trying to frame me," he said. "I was not even present in the area when the incident occurred. The video circulating online does not show me at all."
