Police in Narayanganj's Siddhirganj recovered the bodies of a man and a woman from the side of the road last night (30 September) with a note that read, "Bury us together."

The bodies were recovered around 9:30pm from the Jalkuri Dashpaip area of Siddhirganj.

The man was identified as Shafiqul Islam, 28, a resident of Siddhirganj's Mizmiz West Para area.

The woman is yet to be identified. The unidentified young woman was wearing a pink salwar and a red kameez.

"Locals in the Dashpaip area of Siddhirganj spotted the bodies of a man and a woman by the roadside and informed the police. Upon receiving the report, the police recovered the bodies," said Al Mamun, the officer in charge of Siddhirganj police station.

He said the identity of the man was confirmed through fingerprint, and efforts are ongoing to identify the woman.

"A note was found wrapped in the woman's scarf, which read, 'Assalamu Alaikum, please bury us together in your society'," Al Mamun added.

He said a foul smell was emanating from their mouths, and a bottle of pesticide was found beside the bodies.

"Whether this is a case of suicide or homicide will be confirmed once the autopsy report is received. The bodies have been sent to the morgue at Narayanganj Victoria General Hospital for autopsy," Al Mamun added.
