Fire at Globe Edible Oil factory in Rupganj under control
The extent of the damage will be confirmed after investigation, fire service officials say

A devastating fire has broken out today (24 September) in the seed-crushing section of the soybean oil processing plant of Globe Edible Oil in Rupganj, Narayanganj.
The fire orginated around 11:30am in the Gandhabpur area of Murapara union under the upazila.
On receiving the news, four fire service units from Kanchan, Demra and Sonargaon worked for an hour to bring the blaze under control.
By that time, most of the machinery and raw materials in the seed-crushing section had been burnt, causing heavy losses, the factory management said.
Brig Gen (retd) Ashraf, the company's administration chief, said the fire broke out in the soybean oil processing plant's seed-crushing section.
"Various machinery and equipment were burnt, causing extensive damage," he said, adding that the exact amount of the losses will be disclosed later.
Osman Goni, deputy assistant director of the Narayanganj Fire Service, said, "A total of four fire units worked for about an hour to bring the blaze under control. The cause of the fire is still unknown, and there have been no casualties. The extent of the damage will be confirmed after investigation."
