The protesting students of Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (Buet) today announced that they will participate in the examination on December 28 as their three demands are met.

"We have withdrawn the protest as our demands are met. We will declare our next steps after discussing with the teachers," said a spokesperson of the protesting students named Tithi.

The demands, which were submitted to the Buet authorities on November 2, include expulsion of all killers of Abrar Fahad, punishment to the students who were involved in ragging and punishment to those who will practise politics on the campus.

On December 3, the Buet administration passed a new law with the provision of expelling any student upon finding political affiliation on the campus.

On November 28, the administration expelled nine students and suspended another 17 for different terms from the dormitories for their involvement in ragging.

On November 28, 26 students have been expelled from the university for their alleged involvement in much-talked Abrar Fahad murder.

Of them, 25 are charge-sheeted accused in the murder case. Six other students were given different terms of punishment for breaching discipline.
