BSF returns body of Bangladeshi farmer after 22 hours
Al Amin was shot reportedly while attempting to retrieve his cow, which had crossed the border into India

The body of Al Amin, 32, a Bangladeshi farmer shot dead by India's Border Security Force (BSF) at the Kasba border in Brahmanbaria, was returned to Bangladesh today (1 March).
The BSF handed over the body after a 22-hour delay, following a battalion-level flag meeting between the border guards of both countries.
The meeting took place near Pillar 2050 at the Putia border in Kasba upazila.
Al Amin was shot by BSF personnel around 7:30pm yesterday (28 February) while he was near the barbed wire at the Putia border. He was subsequently taken to an Indian hospital where he was admitted around 9pm.
According to his relatives, Al Amin was shot while attempting to retrieve his cow, which had crossed the border into India.
The flag meeting to facilitate the return of Al Amin's body was jointly led by Lt Col Ziaur Rahman, commander of the 60th Battalion of the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB), and Ajit Kumar, company commander of the 49th Battalion of the BSF.
Lt Col Ziaur Rahman stated that the BGB strongly protested Al Amin's death and warned the BSF against future recurrences of such incidents.
