Body of missing schoolboy recovered from pond in Munshiganj after 23 days
According to the police, the boy was murdered, his body stuffed in a sack, and dumped in the pond to conceal the crime

Police recovered the body of missing schoolboy Roman from a pond in Munshiganj today (13 February), 23 days after he went missing.
The body was in the pond near the house of the prime suspect, Siam alias Jihad, 19, in Chaygaon village of Birtara union under Sreenagar upazila.
Jihad is currently in jail in connection with an abduction case filed after Roman's disappearance.
Following the recovery of the body, enraged locals vandalised and set fire to the house of the accused.
According to the police, the boy was murdered, his body stuffed in a sack, and dumped in the pond to conceal the crime.
Imran Khan, assistant superintendent of police (ASP) of Sirajdikhan Circle, said, "Although the police went to the scene, it took time to recover the body due to resistance from the angry mob. The agitated locals themselves vandalised the suspect's house.
"The situation was brought under control after the army arrived at the scene. The body was recovered at around 1pm," he added.
On 21 January, Roman went out with an auto-rickshaw from Thoirgaon area in Kola union and went missing. His family filed a case on 25 January, accusing three people. Although the police arrested the three accused and sent them to court, Roman's whereabouts remained unknown.
