Parents, two children found dead with throats slit in Naogaon
Locals said the killings may have been the result of a dispute over land.
Four members of a family including two children were found with their throats slit at Bahadurpur village in Niamatpur upazila of Naogaon early today (21 April).
The deceased were identified as Habibur Rahman, 32, son of Namir Uddin; his wife Popy Sultana, 25; their son Parvez, 9; and three-year-old daughter, Sadia Akter.
According to locals and police, the family had gone to sleep after dinner last night (20 April). Early this morning, after offering Fajr prayers, their neighbour, an elderly woman, noticed the door of the house was open.
Upon entering, she found the bodies and raised an alarm, prompting villagers to gather at the scene and inform the police.
Police later arrived at around 8am and recovered the bodies.
Locals said the killings may have been the result of a dispute over land.
Niamatpur Police Station Officer-in-Charge Mahbubur Rahman said the bodies were being sent to Naogaon 250-bed General Hospital for autopsy.
He added that the incident is being investigated with importance and legal proceedings are underway.
