BGB seizes smuggled goods worth tk177cr in August

The Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) seized smuggled goods worth Tk 177.21 crore during raids across border areas and other locations in August 2025.
The haul, seized during these raids, included 13.44kg of gold, 18.73kg of silver, 8,739 saris, 4,903 pieces of three-piece/shirtpiece/blankets, 3,977 ready-made garments, 4.41 lakh cosmetics, 41,331 imitation jewellery, 14,373kg of sugar, 7,318kg of cumin, 45,550kg of coal, as well as vehicles, such as 12 trucks, 13 pickups, 6 private cars, 156 boats, and 56 motorcycles.
In addition to the goods, recovered arms included three pistols, one revolver, one SMG, three rifles, 16 magazines, and 815 rounds of ammunition.
Further, BGB confiscated large quantities of narcotics: 12.37 lakh Yaba tablets, 4.6kg heroin, 7,888 bottles of Phensedyl, 9,525 bottles of foreign liquor, 1,548kg marijuana, 20 bottles of LSD, and 1.8 million tablets/medicines.
During these operations, 209 smugglers were arrested on drug and smuggling charges. Additionally, 160 Bangladeshi and 11 Indian nationals were detained for illegal border crossings, and 546 Myanmar citizens attempting to infiltrate were pushed back.
These operations demonstrate BGB's continued commitment to combating cross-border crimes and safeguarding national security.
