Bangladesh welcomes China’s stance on election

Bangladesh today (1 January) welcomed China's reaffirmation that the country's general election is an internal matter, appreciating Beijing's goodwill and confidence in Bangladesh's interim government and its people to hold a smooth and orderly poll.
In a statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said Dhaka deeply values the cordial relations between the two countries, which have gained further momentum under the interim government.
The foreign ministry also reiterated Bangladesh's firm adherence to the "One China Principle," underscoring its consistent foreign policy position.
On Wednesday in Beijing, Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Lin Jian said Bangladesh's general election is an internal affair of the country and that China upholds the principle of non-interference in other countries' internal affairs.
He expressed confidence that the interim government and the people of Bangladesh are capable of managing their own affairs and pursuing a development path suited to national conditions.
The spokesperson also voiced hope that Bangladesh would hold a smooth general election and advance its political agenda in an orderly manner.
