Bangladesh Army, Ethiopian Airlines ink MoU to ensure overseas travel for troops on training, official duties
The Bangladesh Army and Ethiopian Airlines today (7 January) signed a Memorandum of Understanding aimed at facilitating cost-effective international travel for army personnel on training and official duties.
The MoU was signed at the Army Headquarters as part of efforts to strengthen cooperation between Bangladesh and Ethiopia, two friendly nations, said a press release.
Lt Colonel Mozzammel of Bangladesh Army and Bangladesh Country Manager of Ethiopian Airlines Desalegn Molla inked the deal on behalf of their respective sides.
Sohag Hossain, managing director of Rhythm Group, the general sales agent of Ethiopian Airlines in Bangladesh, was present at the event.
Under the agreement, members of the Bangladesh Army will be able to travel to various global destinations through Ethiopian Airlines at comparatively reduced fares, particularly to destinations beyond the existing routes operated by Biman Bangladeshi Airlines, for training and other official purposes.
The arrangement would help reduce travel expenses and ensure savings of public funds, while allowing army personnel to avail services of an internationally reputed airline at lower cost.
The agreement is expected to enhance mobility during overseas duties and mission deployments, while contributing to improved operational efficiency and overall capability of the Bangladesh Army, said the release.
