Awami League allies are inside the administration, says BNP’s Rizvi

BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi accused allies of the Awami League of operating within the administration. He made the remarks today (27 September) after visiting Md Dolan Bhuiyan, a former Ward 1 Chhatra Dal president who was injured in an attack in September 2024, allegedly by Awami League activists, in Narayanganj's Rupganj.
Rizvi said the former ruling leadership had used violence to remain in power and criticised what he described as impunity for the attackers.
"Sheikh Hasina has committed all the misdeeds through four people. Her adviser, Tarek Siddique, advised her to kill some people," he said.
"Can this be a civilised country? Sheikh Hasina said, if necessary, bomb them with helicopters from the sky. A person with such a bloodthirsty, murderous mentality had been running the country for so long," he said.
He also accused the local administration of failing to act against those he called "Awami accomplices", saying photographs of suspects had already been published in newspapers.
"Why is the administration silent here? Has the administration become a 'thuto Jagannath' (a powerless idol)? The Awami League is inside the administration," Rizvi said.
Advising the administration to move quickly, he urged that those responsible for the attack on Dolan Bhuiyan be arrested.
"The administration must take responsibility for an attack on Dolan Bhuiyan like this. The criminals must be arrested. If another incident happens, the Narayanganj administration will be responsible for it," he warned.
Also present at the meeting were Atiqur Rahman Rumon, convenor of Amra BNP Paribar, and Moshiur Rahman Roni, member secretary of the Narayanganj District Jubo Dal.
