Chhatra Odhikar files complaint against JaPa's GM Quader, 17 others over attack on Gono Odhikar procession

The Bangladesh Chhatra Odhikar Parishad, student wing of the Gono Odhikar Parishad, has submitted a complaint against Jatiyo Party Chairman GM Quader, General Secretary Shameem Haider Patwary, 16 other leaders in connection with an attack on a Gono Odhikar Parishad procession.
Akteruzzaman Somrat Mazi, organising secretary of the Bangladesh Chhatra Odhikar Parishad central committee, filed the complaint, which also mentions 100-150 unnamed individuals, with the Ramna Police Station this afternoon (16 September), Dhaka Metropolitan Police's Ramna division Deputy Commissioner Masud Alam told The Business Standard.
According to the complaint, a rally was held on 29 August in front of Al-Razi Complex under the leadership of Gono Odhikar Parishad President Nurul Haque Nur, demanding the arrest of Jatiyo Party and Awami League leaders allegedly involved with the fallen "fascist regime".
After the rally, a protest march led by Nur started from Paltan intersection and moved toward Nightingale intersection near the Jatiya Party office.
The complaint alleges that 100-150 armed activists of Jatiyo Party and Awami League, chanting "Joy Bangla" slogans, attacked the procession from behind, leaving the plaintiff and around 20-30 Gono Odhikar Parishad leaders and activists seriously injured.
On 29 August night, a clash broke out between activists of Nur's party and the Jatiyo Party in Kakrail. As tensions escalated, police and army personnel charged batons to bring the situation under control. Nur was injured during law enforcers' action.
On the following day, protesters vandalised and torched Jatiyo Party's Kakrail office, prompting police to use sound grenades, water cannons, and batons to disperse the crowd.
Jatiyo Party alleged that Gono Odhikar Parishad leaders and activists barged into their office, vandalised it, and set it on fire. The Gono Odhikar Parishad, however, dismissed the allegations, claiming that its partymen had already left the Kakrail area after completing a demonstration.
