Applications for withdrawal of political cases can now be made directly to law ministry
To expedite the ongoing process of withdrawing political harassment cases, victims can directly apply to the Law and Justice Division of the Ministry of Law.
The applicant has to show the case was filed between 6 January 2009 to 5 August, 2024.
The application must be accompanied by a certified copy of the relevant case statement and, where applicable, the charge sheet.

This decision was taken at the 11th meeting of the ministerial-level committee on withdrawal of political harassment cases at the Secretariat today (20 April).
At the meeting chaired by Law Adviser Asif Nazrul, the withdrawal of 724 more cases was also recommended.
In previous meetings, the committee recommended the withdrawal of 7,570 cases.
The committee also decided to gradually withdraw all political harassment cases filed in the country between January 2009 to August 2024.
