Anti-Modi protests leave 1 dead in Brahmanbaria
14 others have been injured in the clash between madrasa students and the police
A youth has been killed, and 14 others injured, as students of different madrasas in Brahmanbaria have clashed with police.
Ashik, 20, died at Brahmanbaria General Hospital's emergency unit around 6pm. Fifteen others, including Brahmanbaria Sadar Model Thana's Inspector (outpost-2) Nur-e-Alam, sustained injuries during the clashes.
According to locals, in protest of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi's ongoing visit in Bangladesh, the agitating madrasa students attacked the Kawtoli police superintendent's office and police outpost No 2. In response, police fired shots at the protesters and 15 people were injured during the clashes.

Doctors declared Ashik dead on arrival and Inspector Nur-e-Alam was referred to Dhaka in critical condition.
Brahmanbaria General Hospital caretaker Md Shawkat Hossain said the youth died before he was brought to the hospital. There are injury marks on the abdomen of the deceased. However, he said it was not clear whether it was from a bullet.
Meanwhile, five platoons of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) members have been deployed in the district Sadar area to maintain law and order situation. The BGB members have been patrolling in various places of the district since evening.
BGB-25 Battalion Captain Lieutenant Colonel Md Ferdous Kabir confirmed the deployment to The Business Standard.
He said five platoons each containing 20 BGB members have been deployed in the area as per the demand of Brahmanbaria deputy commissioner. BGB members will be on duty in the field till further instructions.
