70 gold bars seized at Chattogram airport
Customs Intelligence in presence of NSI officials recovered the gold bars, weighing 8.16 kg, wrapped with scotch-tap

Customs Intelligence on Friday seized 70 gold bars worth Tk 3.50 crore from a toilet of Shah Amanat International Airport in the port city.
Acting on a tip-off that a passenger along with some gold bars is coming from Muscat on OV407 flight of Salam Air, a team of customs intelligence conducted drives at several points of the airport. At one stage, they found a black polybag lying abandoned on the floor of a toilet next to the immigration booth, Nurun Nahar Lily, assistant director of the Customs Intelligence, said.
Later, customs intelligence in presence of National Security Intelligence (NSI) officials recovered the gold bars, weighing 8.16 kg, wrapped with scotch-tap, she added.
However, an NSI official said, "Sensing danger before the immigration process, the passenger left the gold bars in a toilet. Later, NSI and customs intelligence recovered the gold bars from it in an abandoned condition".
