Family members of some victims allegedly buried the bodies hastily without informing authorities about the cause of death

At least six people have died and three others have fallen ill after reportedly suffering from alcohol poisoning in several villages of Chuadanga Sadar upazila.
The deaths occurred over two days - Saturday and Sunday - according to local sources and police. Three people are currently under treatment.
Family members of some victims allegedly buried the bodies hastily without informing authorities about the cause of death. However, after the incident became public, locals said all the deaths were caused by alcohol poisoning. Police from Sadar police station have visited the affected areas to investigate.
Additional Superintendent of Police (Sadar Circle) Jamal Al Naser said on Thursday night, 9–10 people from several villages under Shankarchandra and Padmabila unions consumed the toxic alcohol and gradually fell ill.
On Saturday (11 October), two men—Khoder Ali, a van driver from Noforkandi village of Padmabila union, and Mohammad Selim, a fish trader from Hospitalpara in Khejuria village—died after drinking the toxic substance.
On Sunday (12 October), four more people died: Laltu alias Ripu, a van driver from Schoolpara in Pirojkhali village; Samir, a mill worker from Towerpara in Dhingedah village; another Laltu, a labour foreman from Biscuit Factorypara in Dhingedah; and Shahid from Majhpara in Ang Chandra village.
"The victims died after consuming alcohol. The exact cause of death will be confirmed once the autopsy reports are available," said Additional SP Jamal Al Naser. "Many of the bodies were already buried before police could intervene. We are investigating where the toxic alcohol came from and who supplied it. Legal procedures are underway, although no case has been filed yet."
