Five people have been killed in separate road accidents in Tangail today and five more people were injured in the incidents.

Three people were killed in an accident at Pakulla bus stand area of Mirzapur upazila on the Dhaka-Tangail highway on Wednesday morning. One person was injured in the incident.

On the other hand, two people were killed in a head-on collision between two CNGs at Indutia area of Ashekpur bypass in Tangail Sadar upazila at 9 am. Four more people were injured.

Gorai Highway Police Station Officer-in-Charge Mohammad Mozaffar Hossain said, "At Pakulla bus stand in the morning, a Dhaka-bound high-speed Hi-Ace microbus crashed into a parked covered van from behind. The front of the microbus has been severely damaged. Three people from the microbus died on the spot."

The deceased were identified as Hasan, 30, helper Emon, 25, and passenger Golam Maula alias Shamim, 28.

Another passenger Meem, 24, who is the wife of the deceased Shamim, was admitted to Kumudini Hospital with serious injuries.

Shamim and Meem are from Akkelpur police station of Joypurhat district.

Meanwhile, police and an eyewitness named Md Raju Talukder said, a CNG was coming from the side of the highway towards Tangail town when it reached Ashekpur area and collided head-on with another CNG.

Two people were killed on the spot.

Four injured were later admitted to Tangail General Hospital.

One of the deceased was identified as Khandaker Afzar Hossain, 36, hailing from Rampur village in Bhuapur upazila. The identity of the other person is still unknown.
