A clash broke out between students of Dhaka College and Dhaka City College in the Science Lab area of the capital, leaving at least 11 students injured.
The altercation started around 11:30am today (21 August), leading to a violent confrontation between groups of students from the two colleges, confirmed Officer-in-Charge (OC) of New Market Police Station AKM Mahfuzul Haque.

Additional police forces were deployed to the scene to bring the situation under control, he added.
Brick-throwing continued in phases in the Science Lab area, during which two explosions were heard. Police said the blasts were carried out as a precautionary measure to prevent further clashes.

During the incident, students of Dhanmondi Ideal College joined forces with City College students.
At that time, City College students also vandalised a Dhaka College bus.

A total of 11 students have been injured in the clashes — two from Ideal College, four from City College, and five from Dhaka College.
The injured have been admitted to Popular Medical College Hospital, Labaid Hospital, and Dhaka Medical College Hospital, confirmed Shah Muhammad Tariquzzaman, assistant commissioner (AC) of Dhanmondi Police.

OC AKM Mahfuzul Haque told TBS that City College students attacked two Dhaka College students on Tuesday (19 August). Stemming from that incident, a scuffle broke out between the two groups which ultimately turned violent.
