Five passengers of a car were killed after a bus crushed the vehicle on the Dhaka–Chattogram highway in Cumilla's Burichong upazila this evening (26 March).

The deceased were identified as Abdul Momin, 50, his wife Jharna Begum, 40, their son Saif, 7, and daughter Labiba, 18, all residents of Chhatarpaia village under Sonaimuri upazila in Noakhali.
The driver of the car, Jamal Hossain, 52, from Barishal, was also among those killed.
Confirming the matter, Mainamati Highway Police Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md Abdul Momin said, "A Star Line bus hit the car from the right side, causing the fatal crash."
"According to preliminary information, the car may have been trying to enter the hotel when the accident occurred. The exact cause will be confirmed after reviewing CCTV footage," he added.
The OC further said, "The driver died on the spot, while the other victims died at local hospitals while undergoing treatment. Another child of Abdul Momin, Abrar, 12, was injured in the accident and has been admitted to the Army Medical College in Cumilla."
