39,000 tonnes of rice arrive at Ctg port from Vietnam, India

Two ships carrying approximately 39,000 tonnes of rice from Vietnam and India have arrived at Chattogram port.
The food ministry imported the rice shipments through government-to-government (G2G) agreement and international tender, reads a press release issued by the ministry today (12 March).
According to the release, one of the ships transported 17,800 tonnes of raw rice from Vietnam under a G2G agreement, while the other carried 21,080 tonnes of parboiled rice from India, procured through international tenders.
Ali Akbar, CEO of Seven Seas, a local shipping agent handling government-imported rice, told The Business Standard that Bangladesh is importing 100,000 tonnes of rice from Vietnam under the G2G agreement.
The first shipment, carrying 17,800 tonnes, arrived at the port's outer anchorage on 10 March and docked at GCB Jetty No. 12 today.
