3 rocket-like metallic objects recovered in Lakshmipur

Three suspicious rocket-like metallic objects were recovered during excavation work for a municipal water supply line in Ramgati upazila of Lakshmipur today (29 July).

Police have placed the items under a security cordon and alerted an army bomb disposal expert team.

The objects were discovered while workers were digging for a water supply line on Samabay TNT Road behind ASM Abdur Rob Government College in Ramgati municipality.

Workers found the objects about 3-4 feet underground and halted excavation after becoming suspicious of their shape. News of the discovery quickly spread, drawing crowds of curious residents to the site.

According to residents, the objects resemble rockets and could be powerful bombs or landmines, although this has not been confirmed.

Police rushed to the scene, secured the area and placed it under close surveillance. The Army's bomb disposal team has been informed to determine whether the objects are unexploded rockets, explosives or old metallic items.

Ramgati Police Station Officer-in-Charge Liton Dewan confirmed the incident, saying the recovered objects initially appeared to resemble rockets.

"However, we cannot confirm at this stage whether they are bombs or something else. We have informed the bomb disposal team. The matter will become clear after the experts examine them," he said.

He added that the area remains under police protection and urged people not to panic while the examination is underway.
