Three people were killed in an explosion at a roadside eatery in Ruhitpur, Keraniganj today (5 October).

The deceased were identified as Elias, Mintu, Shah Alam, Keraniganj Model Police Station Officer-in-Charge Sohrab Al Hossain confirmed the matter to The Business Standard.

The incident took place at around 7:30pm at a 'biriyani hotel', Duty Officer of Fire Service Service and Civil Defence headquarters Shahjahan Miah told The Business Standard.

Two firefighting units doused the fire at around 9:00pm and the firefighters recovered the bodies from the spot, the fire service official said. 

The three individuals were inside the eatery when a bus hit a rickshaw van, which crashed into a gas cylinder in the kitchen, leading to an explosion and fire, the police said.
