3 killed, 8 injured in bus crash on Faridpur-Khulna highway

At least three people, including a woman, were killed and eight others injured in a head-on collision between two buses on the Faridpur-Khulna highway in Kanaipur union of Faridpur Sadar upazila this afternoon (14 August).
The accident occurred around 1pm, causing severe traffic congestion along the highway.
Confirming the incident, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Karimpur Highway Police Station, Md Salauddin Chowdhury, said, "A fatal head-on collision occurred between two passenger buses. One woman died at the scene, and two men died at the hospital."
One woman died on the spot, while two male passengers were declared dead after being taken to Faridpur Medical College Hospital.
The deceased have been identified as Atiar and Ranjit.
The identity of the woman and those injured has yet to be confirmed.
The injured passengers are currently undergoing treatment at Faridpur Medical College Hospital.
Following the incident, police and fire service personnel cleared the road.
According to police, fire service officials, and local sources, the collision took place between a Dhaka-bound Royal Express bus from Jashore and a Chuadanga-bound Darshana Deluxe bus from Dhaka.
