3 killed, 32 injured in head-on collision between two buses in Habiganj

At least three people were killed and 32 others injured in a head-on collision between two passenger buses on the Dhaka–Sylhet highway in Kadamtali area of Shayestaganj upazila, Habiganj, this afternoon (4 November).
According to police and locals, the collision took place when a Dhaka-bound Ena Paribahan bus attempted to overtake a truck and collided head-on with a Royal Coach bus coming from the opposite direction.
The deceased were identified as Raju Mia (45), son of Mukit Mia from Barachar village under Nabiganj upazila, and Hanif (60), son of Abul Khayer from the Shahibagh area in Sreemangal. The identity of another victim, aged around 40, could not be confirmed immediately, reports UNB.
Shayestaganj Fire Service Station Officer Ariful Islam said, "We recovered two bodies from the spot, while another person succumbed to his injuries after being taken to the hospital."

Abu Taher Dewan, officer-in-charge (OC) of Shayestaganj Highway Police, said police rushed to the scene immediately after receiving the news and carried out rescue operations.
Traffic on the highway was temporarily halted but later resumed, he said, adding that the accident occurred due to excessive speed.
