3 injured in reported shooting by armed group in Munshiganj
The incident took place around 7:30am at the Baghaikandi Bazar area in Imampur union

At least three people were injured in a reported shooting incident by a local armed group in Munshiganj's Gazaria upazila this morning (18 July).
The incident took place around 7:30am at the Baghaikandi Bazar area in Imampur union.
The injured have been identified as Alamin, 42, Abdul Based, 45, and Kabir, 55. All of them are residents of Baghaikandi village. Locals said the victims received preliminary treatment at a nearby pharmacy.
Confirming the matter to The Business Standard, Amjad Hossain, local Union Parishad member of Ward-6 said, "I have heard about the incident from locals. They said four to five people were injured, but we have managed to confirm the names of three.
"However, I cannot say what exactly caused the conflict."
Gazaria Police Station Officer-in-Charge Md Anwar Alam Azad said, "I visited the scene personally. Two of the injured show signs of pellet wounds consistent with shotgun fire. We are investigating the matter, and efforts are underway to bring those responsible under the law."
According to local sources, the attack was carried out by supporters of local criminals 'Shooter Mannan' and 'Hridoy Bagha', who reportedly led an armed showdown in the area the night before.
Eyewitness accounts suggest that the violence may have been a retaliatory act. On 16 July, three extortionists were detained by locals at the Sholoani sand field while allegedly demanding extortion money.
A case was later filed with Gazaria Police Station, naming Hridoy as the prime accused.
Following the case, Hridoy briefly went into hiding but returned to the area the next day. That night, he and his supporters, including Mannan, reportedly staged an armed show of force.
Residents claimed they heard 6-7 crude bomb explosions during the showdown.
This morning, Hridoy, Mannan and his supporters returned to Baghaikandi Bazar, where an altercation broke out between them and locals. The situation escalated quickly, leading to indiscriminate gunfire, according to locals.
