Hospital staff shot in Banani, in critical state at DMCH
Two unidentified assailants wearing masks approached and fired a single round, targeting Jamal’s right eye

A staff member of the National Institute of Diseases of the Chest and Hospital (commonly known as Bakshebadhi Hospital) in the capital's Banani area was critically injured after being shot tonight (1 August).
The victim was identified as Jamal Hossain, 40, son of late Munnaf Ali. He was residing at the hospital's staff quarters in Mohakhali.
According to his brother Sajal, who brought him to the hospital, the incident occurred at around 8pm in front of the hospital's 4th class employees' club.
Two unidentified assailants wearing masks approached and fired a single round, targeting Jamal's right eye.
Sajal said the bullet entered through his brother's eye and lodged in his head, leaving his condition extremely grave.
Zaman was a former secretary of the 4th class staff association.
Following the shooting, his relatives rushed him to the emergency department of Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) at around 9:25pm.
He is currently undergoing treatment in ward no 3 and remains in critical condition, said DMCH police outpost in charge Inspector Faruque Mia.
