3 fined for hunting monitor lizards in Lakshmipur, 6 monitor lizards released
The three individuals were fined Tk1,000 each under the Wildlife Conservation and Safety Act for hunting monitor lizards

Three individuals have been fined for hunting monitor lizards in Lakshmipur district, with a mobile court imposing a fine of Tk3,000. The court also ordered the release of six monitor lizards.
The fined individuals are Nikhil Tripura, Atindra Tripura, and Timit Tripura, residents of Dighinala upazila in Khagrachari district.
The fine was imposed by the Executive Magistrate and Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) of Lakshmipur, Jamshad Alam Rana, this afternoon (April 8).
Earlier in the morning, the Lakshmipur Forest Department officials detained the three men from the North Hamshadi area of Lakshmipur. The accused were later presented before the mobile court.
The six monitor lizards were released in the Behribandh area of North Hamshadi Union.
Executive Magistrate Jamshad Alam Rana said, "The three individuals were fined Tk1,000 each under the Wildlife Conservation and Safety Act for hunting monitor lizards. The monitor lizards were then released into their natural habitat."
