3 beaten by mob in Narayanganj over alleged online job scam attempt

Three youths were injured in a mob beating in Narayanganj's Bandar upazila following allegations that they attempted to rob a man by luring him with an online job advertisement.
The incident occurred around 11:30pm yesterday (7 January) in Dhamgarh Union of Bandar.
The injured were later rescued and admitted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital. Police could not immediately confirm their identities.
Police said quoting the victim and locals that Ibrahim Khalil, 32, came to the Lamadanpur area of Bandar on Wednesday night from Mirpur after responding to an online job advertisement.
From there, three youths allegedly tried to take him to a secluded location in Dhamgarh Union.
Sensing something suspicious, Ibrahim Khalil began shouting for help. Hearing his screams, local people rushed to the spot, detained the three youths on suspicion of attempted robbery and beat them.
Bandar Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Golam Moktar Ashraf Uddin said the youths had brought the man to the area using a job advertisement.
"When the victim shouted, suspecting he might be robbed, local people assaulted the three youths. Police rescued them in critical condition and sent them to Dhaka Medical College Hospital for treatment," he said.
The OC added that efforts are underway to identify the injured individuals.
