29-member committee formed for integrated development of Jungle Salimpur
A 29-member coordination committee, headed by the Chattogram deputy commissioner, has been formed to oversee planned development on government khas land in Jungle Salimpur, with major infrastructure projects pending land settlement.
A 29-member coordination committee titled the 'Jungle Salimpur Development Coordination Committee' has been formed to ensure planned and integrated development on government khas land in Jungle Salimpur area of Chattogram's Sitakunda upazila.
The committee was formed under a decision taken by the Chattogram divisional core committee on 11 March, with the deputy commissioner of Chattogram district serving as its chair, Chattogram Additional Deputy Commissioner (Revenue) Shakhawat Jamil Saikat confirmed to The Business Standard today (1 June).
According to district administration sources, the committee will coordinate security arrangements, infrastructure development by various government agencies, and other development activities on the reclaimed government land.
The Jungle Salimpur area has now come under full government control, and the coordination committee has already begun its work to facilitate development planning, officials added.
At the committee's first meeting in March, members reviewed the overall situation and development prospects of the area.
They also decided to set up police and Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) camps to maintain law and order.
Representatives from the Bangladesh Army, police, Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB), RAB, Directorate General of Forces Intelligence (DGFI), National Security Intelligence (NSI), along with officials from the Department of Environment, Department of Agriculture, Public Works Department and Local Government Engineering Department (LGED), have been included in the committee to ensure inter-agency coordination.
