2 killed as microbus, easy bike collide head-on in Narayanganj

Two people were killed and two others injured in a head-on collision between a battery-run easy bike and a microbus in Narayanganj's Rupganj upazila last night (9 June).
The deceased were identified as Shahriar Hasan Akash, 29, of Sultanbagh area in Tarabo, and the easy bike driver, aged around 35, who remained unidentified.
"Following the accident, the microbus driver fled the scene with the vehicle. Preparations are underway to file a case regarding the incident," Rupganj Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Liakat Ali told The Business Standard today (10 June).
According to family members of the victims, Shahriar, along with his friends Saimon and Tamim Sarkar, was returning to Sultanbagh from the Tarabo Bishwaroad area when their easy bike collided head-on with a Hiace microbus in front of the Saifing factory.
The easy bike driver died on the spot while locals rushed the three injured passengers to Dhaka Medical College Hospital, where doctors declared Akash dead on arrival.
The other two remain under treatment.
