5 killed, 14 injured as bus falls into canal in Lakshmipur

Five passengers were killed and at least 14 others injured after a bus of Ananda Paribahan lost control and plunged into a canal in Lakshmipur this morning (6 September).
The accident occurred around 8:30am near Kafil Uddin Degree College area on the Lakshmipur-Noakhali road, confirmed Chandraganj Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md Fayezur Rahman.

Two of the deceased were identified as Joynal Abedin, 57, and Morshed Alam, 40, of Lakshmipur Sadar upazila. The identity of the other victims could not be confirmed immediately.
OC Fayezur Rahman told The Business Standard, "The bus from Noakhali's Chowmuhani was heading towards Lakshmipur when it lost control and fell into the canal. We recovered three bodies and sent the injured to hospital."
Police, firefighters, and locals rushed to the spot, rescued the victims, and recovered the bus from the Rahmatkhali canal.
