2 killed as college boundary wall collapses onto TCB queue in Mirpur
The two waiting to buy subsidised TCB products were buried under debris.
At least two people were killed and six others injured after a boundary wall of Mirpur University College collapsed onto people waiting in a queue to buy subsidised products from the Trading Corporation of Bangladesh (TCB) in the capital's Mirpur-2 area today (28 July).
The incident took place at around 1:30pm on Love Road behind Mirpur University College.
Confirming the fatalities, Mirpur Division Deputy Commissioner of Police Mostak Sarkar told The Business Standard that one of the deceased was identified as Nasima Begum, a resident of Janata Housing in Mirpur-2.

The identity of the other victim could not be confirmed immediately.
Police said six others sustained injuries in the collapse and were taken to nearby hospitals for treatment.
According to law enforcement officials, the boundary wall suddenly gave way, trapping people standing in the TCB queue beneath the rubble.
Authorities have launched an investigation to determine the cause of the collapse.
Later in the early hours of Tuesday (29 July), Health Minister Sardar Md Sakhawat Hossain visited the injured at the National Institute of Traumatology and Orthopaedic Rehabilitation (NITOR) and assured them of all necessary support.
Speaking to reporters, he said the government would bear all medical expenses of the injured and directed authorities to ensure they receive the highest standard of treatment. He also said patients would not have to pay any hospital costs, and the government would reimburse expenses for any medicines or medical supplies purchased from outside.
Five of the injured are currently undergoing treatment at NITOR, while one is receiving treatment at Dhaka Medical College Hospital. The minister said all of the injured are now out of danger.
