27 Army, Navy personnel awarded honorary commissions on Independence Day
The honorary commissions were conferred on 26 March and will take effect from the same date, the notifications said
A total of 27 junior commissioned officers (JCOs) from the Bangladesh Army and Navy have been awarded honorary commissioned ranks on the occasion of Independence Day.
According to separate notifications issued by the Ministry of Defence, 18 Army personnel holding the rank of Master Warrant Officer have been granted honorary commissions as lieutenants, while nine Navy personnel holding the rank of Master Chief Petty Officer (MCPO) have been awarded honorary Sub-Lieutenant ranks.
The honorary commissions were conferred on 26 March and will take effect from the same date, the notifications said.
The Army officers who received the honorary lieutenant rank are: Mohammad Jamal Uddin (Armoured); Md Abdul Kaiyum (Artillery); Md Moharram Hossain (Artillery); Md Saiful Islam (Engineers); Mohammad Shafiqul Islam Sikder (Engineers); Md Ismail Hossain (Engineers); Md Shahidul Islam (Engineers); Md Abdul Kader (Signals); Kazi Mokarram Hossain (East Bengal); Md Habibur Rahman (East Bengal); Mohammad Tajul Islam (East Bengal); Mohammad Kibria Kamal (East Bengal); Mohammad Kamruzzaman (East Bengal); Md Khaled Morshed Nirob, Bir; Sheikh Kamal Uddin (ASC); Obaidur Rahman Sekh (EME); Md Abul Hashem (EME); and Md Abdul Kader (CMP).
Meanwhile, the Navy personnel awarded honorary Sub-Lieutenant ranks are: Khandakar Jahangir Alam (NUP MCPO, Ex-CD-1); Md Nazrul Islam (MCPO-E); HM Abdul Jalil (MCPO-Ex, GI); Shah Mohammad Ashraful Zaman (MCPO-Ex, FC-1); Md Saiful Islam Pradhan, BSP (MCPO-R); Howladar Mohammad Hannan (MCPO-L); Md Samiul Haque (MCPO-Com); Md Nuruzzaman (MCPO-Cat); and Md Din Islam (MCPO-Med, OTA).
The move recognises their service and contribution to the armed forces, the notifications added.
