100 more seats allocated for students in Parliament gallery
With this allocation, the total number of seats reserved for students has increased to 150.
In response to a request from Education Minister ANM Ehsanul Hoque Milon, an additional 100 seats have been allocated for students in the visitors' gallery of the National Parliament.
With this allocation, the total number of seats reserved for students has increased to 150.
According to sources of the education ministry, previously, only 50 seats were designated for students under the age of 12 in the parliament gallery.
The minister formally appealed to the speaker for increasing the number of seats and the request was subsequently approved.
As a result of this decision, more students will now have the opportunity to directly observe parliamentary proceedings.
Speaking on the matter, the minister noted that former president Ziaur Rahman had taken various initiatives to help students understand the state and governance.
Continuing that legacy, this step has been taken to raise awareness among the current generation about the state and politics.
The minister also mentioned that discussions were held with the Secretary of the National Parliament Secretariat, Barrister Md Golam Sorwar Bhuiyan.
Welcoming the initiative, he said that students visiting the Parliament will be briefed on its functions, architecture, history and traditions before the session begins.
