11 vehicles including bus burnt in Habiganj CNG station fire
The fire started around 6am this morning when an explosion occurred in the gas cylinder of a bus being refuelled at the station

A fire broke out at a CNG refuelling station in the Aushkandi union of Nabiganj upazila in Habiganj today (21 August), burning 11 vehicles including a passenger bus and injuring five people.
The fire started around 6am this morning when an explosion occurred in the gas cylinder of a bus being refuelled at the station. It spread quickly and burnt nine CNG-run autorickshaws, the bus and two motorcycles.
Units of the Fire Service from Nabiganj, Osmaninagar and Bahubal reached the site and brought the fire under control after about one and a half hours.

Abul Kalam Azad, assistant director of the Fire Service in Habiganj, said three units responded immediately and brought the fire under control. He added that initial findings suggest the incident was caused by a mechanical fault in the bus. The extent of the losses will be confirmed after investigation.
According to locals, vehicles caught fire one after another within minutes, forcing people nearby to move away from the area.
Fire Service officials said if the blaze had reached the main gas storage tank, a larger explosion could have taken place.
Five people were injured, including two station workers. All five of them were taken to Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital. Hospital sources said two of them are in critical condition.
Traffic on the Dhaka–Sylhet highway was disrupted for some time following the incident. Police and fire service personnel later restored normal movement.
