1 killed in crude bomb explosion amid clash between two groups in Geneva Camp

A young man was killed in a crude bomb explosion during a clash between two groups at Geneva Camp in Dhaka's Mohammadpur.
The deceased was identified as Jahid, 20, a graphics designer by profession.
The incident took place around 3:30am today (23 October). Jahid was critically injured in the explosion and was rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital, where doctors declared him dead at dawn, confirmed Md Faruk, officer-in-charge of the Dhaka Medical College police outpost.
Mohammadpur Police Station duty officer Md Atiqur Rahman Jewel said they received reports of a clash and explosions at the camp early in the morning.
"A police team was dispatched to the scene immediately, but the situation had calmed down by then," he said.
"Upon reaching the spot, police learned that one person had been injured, though locals could not provide further details," he added.
Friends of the deceased told reporters that Jahid had gone out with friends at night when he was caught in the middle of the clash between two groups. A cocktail exploded near his leg, leaving him severely injured. He was taken to the hospital, where doctors later pronounced him dead.
