Old and new fascists' 'No' vote unity will be crushed by ballot revolution: Asif Mahmud
National Citizen Party (NCP) Spokesperson Asif Mahmud Shojib Bhuyain has alleged that a kind of unity has formed between "old fascists" and "new fascists" to vote 'no' in the upcoming national referendum.
Speaking at an election rally in Chattogram's Boalkhali upazila today (26 January), he said this unity will be shattered on 12 February through a "ballot revolution" in favor of the 'Yes' vote.
He further claimed that the past 17 months have offered a preview of the "oppression and tyranny" of the last 17 years. "Following the 2024 July Uprising, a reign of extortion and terror has been established, from rural lanes to the highest levels of the state, representing a new form of the same 17-year-long oppression," he said.
He added that liberation from extortionists cannot be achieved on the streets this time – it must be realised at the ballot box.
Asif, also the chairman of NCP's Election Management Committee, urged voters to cast their ballots for candidates of the 11-party alliance for the sake of the country and people's freedom, regardless of party affiliation.
