BNP to improve quality of primary healthcare if voted to power: Dr Rafiqul Islam
Dr Rafiqul also highlighted the need to increase manpower in the health sector, supply modern medical equipment and expand specialised services at district and upazila levels.
If BNP comes to power, it will prioritise improving the quality of primary healthcare and ensuring services reach people at their doorsteps, the party's Health Affairs Secretary Dr Rafiqul Islam said today (29 January).
He made the remark while speaking at a discussion meeting, where he emphasised strengthening maternal and child healthcare, expanding medical infrastructure in rural areas and reducing healthcare costs for ordinary citizens.
Dr Rafiqul also highlighted the need to increase manpower in the health sector, supply modern medical equipment and expand specialised services at district and upazila levels.
Alongside healthcare reforms, he spoke about BNP's broader "Plan to Build the Nation," which includes social protection and economic support initiatives such as family cards and agriculture cards.
He said these programmes aim to keep living costs affordable for low- and middle-income groups and strengthen the rural economy.
As part of BNP's nationwide election campaign, carried out under the direction of the party's Chairman Tarique Rahman, organisational activities have been intensified in Rajshahi.
In this context, Dr Rafiqul formally launched the party's campaign by distributing informational leaflets titled "Plan to Build the Nation" at the Rajshahi Medical College Hospital premises.
During the visit, he exchanged views with the principal and vice-principal of Rajshahi Medical College, heads of various departments and on-duty physicians. Discussions focused on the current state of the country's healthcare sector, challenges in medical services and potential reform measures.
After the meeting, Dr Rafiqul visited several hospital wards and spoke with patients and their attendants. He sought public support for BNP and urged voters to turn out early at their respective polling centres on 12 February to cast their ballots.
