LPG tanker headed to India safely crosses Hormuz
Ship-tracking data showed the vessel, chartered by Indian Oil Corporation (IOC), was in the Gulf of Oman this evening.
An LPG tanker carrying cargo for India has safely sailed out of the Strait of Hormuz and is on its way to Visakhapatnam, an official statement said today (3 May).
The Marshall Islands-flagged MT Sarv Shakti is carrying 46,313 tonnes of liquefied petroleum gas and has a crew of 20, including 18 Indians, cleared the strait on 2 May and is expected to arrive on 13 May, the Ministry of Port, Shipping and Waterways said.
The cargo is equivalent to about half a day of India's LPG requirement and is expected to partly ease supply constraints linked to the ongoing Middle East conflict.
Ship-tracking data showed the vessel, chartered by Indian Oil Corporation (IOC), was in the Gulf of Oman this evening.
The ministry said all Indian seafarers in the Persian Gulf region are safe.
