Fire breaks out at Kuala Lumpur’s Petronas Tower 3, brought under control within 30 minutes
Firefighters arrived within 10 minutes and used the building’s internal fire safety systems, including fire hoses and wet risers, to extinguish the flames.
A fire that broke out at Kuala Lumpur's Petronas Tower 3 this morning (1 November), with videos and photos showing thick smoke rising from the top of the building, has been brought under control.
The fire started at a restaurant on one of the upper floors, Malaysia's national news agency Bernama reported.
Authorities were alerted about the fire at around 6:40am, the New Straits Times reported, quoting Fire and Rescue Department operations commander Mohd Hafizan Hassan.
Firefighters arrived within 10 minutes and used the building's internal fire safety systems, including fire hoses and wet risers, to extinguish the flames.
No casualties were reported. The fire was brought under control at 7:04am and completely extinguished by 8:45am, according to Mohd Hafizan.
A restaurant on the 57th floor has been temporarily closed while the cause of the fire is being investigated.
Petronas Tower 3, also known as Menara Carigali, is a 60-storey building located beside the Petronas Twin Towers. It houses offices, retail stores, and food and beverage outlets.
