An ultralight plane crashed into the sea off Copacabana beach in Rio de Janeiro on Saturday afternoon, killing the pilot, authorities said.
The Cessna 170A, owned by an advertising company and pulling a promotional banner, dove nose-first into the water at approximately 12:30 pm, according to officials. Security camera footage captured the moment of the crash, says the Associated Press.
Rescue teams deployed Jet Skis, divers, and sonar equipment to search the wreckage. The Brazilian Air Force has launched an investigation into the cause of the accident.
No additional injuries were reported.
