Nepal’s new PM Sushila Karki’s husband was involved in 1973 plane hijacking
Passengers included Nepali actor CP Lohani and Indian film star Mala Sinha

Sushila Karki, Nepal's first female Prime Minister and a former Chief Justice, is married to politician Durga Prasad Subedi, who was involved in a 1973 plane hijacking.
At the time a youth leader in the Nepali Congress, Subedi, along with Nagendra Dhungel and Basanta Bhattarai, hijacked a 19-seater plane from Biratnagar to Kathmandu, carrying Rs30 lakh in Indian currency, to fund an "armed struggle" against King Mahendra's monarchy.
The operation was orchestrated by Girija Prasad Koirala, who later served four terms as Nepal's prime minister, says Times of India.
Passengers included Nepali actor CP Lohani and Indian film star Mala Sinha. The hijackers forced the plane to land in Forbesganj, Bihar, offloaded part of the cash, and then allowed the aircraft to continue to Kathmandu.
All members, except Dhungel, were later arrested in India but eventually released on bail and returned to Nepal before the 1980 referendum.
