Indian home minister orders demolition of illegal constructions within 15km of int’l border

Indian Home Minister Amit Shah has directed concerned authorities to demolish all illegal constructions within 15 km of the international border. 

Presiding a security review meeting with Border Security Force and state government officials in Rajasthan,  Shah stressed the need for strict enforcement of a zero-tolerance policy against illegal constructions, particularly within 15 km of the international border.

The minister directed the concerned authorities to demolish all such unauthorized constructions, an official statement said.

He asked district magistrates to ensure full legal and financial compliance by all banks, verification of major business establishments, scrutiny of their funding sources, tracking of mule accounts and shell companies, identification of fake Aadhaar cards and prevention of smuggling.

At the meeting, it was decided to formulate a 360-degree security framework for every border district with the involvement of local citizens, the state government machinery and all security agencies to ensure comprehensive and robust border management.

Shah emphasised on a coordinated border management strategy involving the Border Security Force, Central Board of Direct Taxes, Narcotics Control Bureau  and the state government machinery to effectively address infiltration, narcotics smuggling, encroachment, terror financing and other trans-border crimes.
