Ayodhya Ram Mandir LIVE Updates: India Prime Minister Narendra Modi has joined bhoomi pujan rituals at the ram temple site. The temple town is all decked up for the much awaited ceremony. Follow live updates here

India Prime Minister Narendra Modi is in Ayodhya to lay the foundation of the Ram temple. He participated in the bhoomi poojan rituals at the temple site and offered prayers. He will shortly lay the foundation of the temple with a sliver brick.

From Varanasi to Tamil Nadu, many devotees have sent gifts for the ceremony, like silver bricks and coins.

Special prayers were started on Monday and will culminate with the Indian PM laying the foundation stone for the temple. The city has been decorated with paintings depicting scenes from the Ramayana. The Uttar Pradesh government has also made elaborate security arrangement for the event.

Apart from the state police, the NSG commandos have also been kept on stand-by. The invitations for the ceremony have been kept limited due to the coronavirus pandemic. Veteran BJP leaders LK Advani and Murli Manohar Joshi will witness the event from New Delhi via video-conferencing.

12:20 pm IST: India PM Modi performs arti of Ram Lalla

At Ram Janmabhoomi, India Prime Minister Narendra Modi offered dandavat pranam at pre-fabricated makeshift Ram Mandir and performed arti of Ram Lalla.  

He then planted a sapling of Parijat tree and reached bhumi pujan venue, sanctum- sanctorum of the proposed Ram Mandir.

India Prime Minister Narendra Modi has arrived in Ayodhya for the grand foundation laying ceremony of Ram temple. He will first visit the Hanuman Garhi temple and then head to Ram Janmabhoomi site.

11:20 am IST:India Prime Minister Modi's first stop at Hanuman Garhi temple

India Prime Minister Modi will first visit the 10th century Hanuman Garhi temple on arrival in Ayodhya. Premises of the temple were sanitised earlier today.

The Prime Minister will then proceed to Ram Janmabhoomi site to offer prayers to Ram Lalla lay the foundation stone for Ram temple.

At Hanumangarhi temple in Ayodhya, PM to be gifted headgear, silver crown

India Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be gifted a headgear, a silver crown and a stole with the name of Lord Ram printed on it, said Sri Gaddinsheen Premdas Ji Maharaj, head priest of Hanumangarhi temple said on Wednesday, according to news agency ANI.

At 12:40pm, India Prime Minister Narendra Modi will lay the foundation stone of the Ram temple in Ayodhya. The city is all decked up for the groundbreaking ceremony. A total of 175 guests have been invited for the mega event.
