How did the United States establish a strong position in the Middle East?
The United States has built a strong military presence in the Middle East for decades, with air, naval and land bases. Its main objectives are to ensure the security of Gulf oil, confront Iran and regional rivals, conduct counterterrorism operations and protect the security of allied countries.
