Realme sets foot in Bangladesh's smartphone market

Chinese smartphone brand Realme has officially started its journey in the Bangladeshi smartphone and digital device market. It will bring in five smartphone variants by mid-March. 

Neon Xie, brand director of Realme in South-East Asia, yesterday announced their entry into Bangladesh's market at a press conference held at a city hotel.

He said they have already set up a mobile manufacturing plant in Gazipur. 

"As a tech trendy brand, Realme now commits to bringing the trendy tech-lifestyle to the young people in Bangladesh," Xie said. 

Realme has so far launched nine smartphone models, including the Realme 3 series, Realme 5 series, Realme C and the Realme X series. 

In the 18 months of its journey, Realme has secured the seventh position in the global market and become the fastest-growing smartphone brand in the world.

By the end of December 2019, the number of its global users exceeded 25 million with a year-on-year increase of over 500 percent. 

The company has entered 25 markets around the world and has been gradually completing the overall layout of the global strategic market.

Tim Shao, CEO of Realme Bangladesh, said adhering to the spirit of "Dare to Leap", the brand has been bringing several products with surprising experience beyond expectations to young global consumers. 

"Realme possesses deep insight of the global smartphone market and the needs of young users. It has become the benchmark of products with outstanding performance and fashionable designs," he added. 

Officials said the brand helped popularise 5G technology and brings affordable and trendy 5G smartphones for the youth.

Realme provides Artificial Intelligence of Things (AIoT) products with the latest designs and comprehensive function at each price segment.

At present, there is a monthly demand for 20-25 lakh mobile phones in Bangladesh. 

Like in other parts of the world, Samsung, Huawei and Oppo have been the leading smartphone brands in the country.
